Kathleen E. Letourneau’s intellectual property practice focuses on trademark and copyright counseling, clearance, prosecution, enforcement and litigation. Ms. Letourneau routinely assists clients in the selection and clearance of trademarks, the prosecution of applications for registration before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, preparing and responding to cease-and-desist letters, drafting IP-related contracts and agreements, pursuing and resolving infringement and unfair competition cases, and the representation of clients in inter partes and ex partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board.

In addition, her experience extends to matters relating to domain name infringement and cybersquatting, including handling domain name arbitrations under the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy. Ms. Letourneau also works with international counsel on the global prosecution, maintenance and protection of trademarks as well as working closely with the United States Customs and Border Protection agency as part of her clients’ anti-counterfeiting programs.

Ms. Letourneau assists clients in a variety of industries, including wine and alcoholic beverages, character merchandising, travel and tourism, education, food, restaurant service, apparel and fashion, cosmetics and personal care products, health and life sciences, consumer goods, and retail services.

Ms. Letourneau earned her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2006, where she was awarded certificates of specialization with distinction in both intellectual property and litigation. Prior to law school, she received a B.A. degree, magna cum laude, in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. Ms. Letourneau is a member of the State Bar of California Intellectual Property and Litigation Sections, the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Bar Association Intellectual Property and Litigation sections and the International Trademark Association.

Ms. Letourneau is a Cuban-American originally from Miami, Florida and speaks fluent Spanish. Outside of work, she soaks in the adventures of a young family with her husband and enjoys capturing their lives through photography.
