Furtado and Gelwicks Discuss Developing a Niche in The Recorder

OWE associates Lindsey Furtado and Eric Gelwicks were interviewed for a story in The Recorder on June 6, “Associates are doin’ it for themselves,” that discusses how law firm associates can carve out a niche for themselves, especially in emerging technology areas.

According to the article “Owen, Wickersham & Erickson associate Lindsey Furtado kept up on the discussions when ICANN, the international body that oversees domain names, moved to add descriptive web address endings like dot-company and dot-technology—but he did it on his own time. When clients needed advice on how to handle the rule changes, the work came to him.”

And Eric was quoted about opportunities that arise from the booming tech/social media economy in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, “‘Being located in the Bay Area is helpful to staying on the cutting edge,’ said Owen Wickersham associate Eric Gelwicks. ‘Nearly every day you can go out to an event where someone is talking about a new issue, a new problem, a new way of doing things.'”
