Antenna Theater’s “Love Plane” Celebrates Conclusion of 50th Anniversary of Summer of Love

On October 1, 2017, a skywriting plane drew a heart over the Golden Gate Bridge to celebrate the culmination of the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love in San Francisco.  Our friends and longtime clients at Antenna Theater, who conceived the event, chartered a yacht that sailed onto the bay for the occasion.

OWE’s Linda Joy Kattwinkel was on board for the festivities with lots of old hippies and young enthusiasts in tie-die.  The program included the singing of “All you need is love” while the plane drew the heart over the bridge.  Emperor Norton read a proclamation commending the heart rendering and the legendary “Scoop” Nisker provided a funny and moving tribute to the Summer of Love. A good time was had by all.

Chris Hardman, Artistic Director of Antenna Theater, summed it up this way: “Please consider the heart floating over the Golden Gate Bridge as a simple, but powerful, image; a celestial greeting from us all to the world.”
