File Now for Copyright Protection of Large Collections – Rules Change on March 15

CLIENT ALERT:  If you have large collections of unpublished works that are not yet protected by copyright registration, apply for group registration before March 15, 2019.

Under a new rule issued by the Copyright Office, the current option for registering an unlimited number of unpublished works as a collection under one registration certificate will be eliminated on March 15th. After that date, group registrations for unpublished works will be limited to 10 works. A new application form called “Group of Unpublished Works” will be required. The only exception will be for group registration of photographs, which will continue to be accepted for up to 750 photographs using the special form for photographers. OW&E can guide you through the group registration process.
